The political situation in Spain

If anyone is worried about the political situation in Spain, here is some information that may quiet their fears. The terror attacks in Spain (with the exception of the subway attack last year, which was election related) are mainly performed by a group called the ETA. The ETA is a separatist group that has been advocating that an area in spain be allowed to secede. The reason that I suggest that the info will quiet any fears is the nature of their attacks. The ETA will usually choose a target that is an offical or police force. Also, the spanish people do not fear ETA attacks very much because the ETA is not interested in creating conflict, just raising awareness of their cause. The ETA's attacks are generally announced in advance and the public areas are cleared to prevent civilian casualties. If people are hurt in an ETA attack it is usually because they failed to heed public service announcements to stay clear of an area.

Having said all that, I am keeping a close eye on the situation in Spain and Lindsay and I will be sure to take every precaution. Also, Lindsay will have a serious edge on that kind of thing because she lives with spanish students and will have a good idea about how to be safe. So, no worries.

SNOW AGAIN!

Yes. It's snowing here again. The snow was almost melted (except for the remnants of the snowman, of course) and it's started again. I was talking to a friend who is a geology major yesterday and he told me an interesting fact. In meterology class he learned that statistically SRU has more rainy days than Seattle. Yep. We don't get the volume that they do but we have them beat on frequency. Great.

R.I.P. Hank

The Bard Hall snowman, dubbed 'Hank' has been destroyed. There is still some snow here so the bottom snowball is pretty much the same as it always was. The head and top portions were knocked down. There were just too many people that had it out for Hank. Oh well. These things will happen. If it snows again we'll just make another one. If not then we've still got our pictures and memories.

I'm doing fine. Trying to balance work and free time. I was really busy last week but things aren't as bad this week. Spring break is coming. I can't wait. Lindsay is doing well. Other than that not much else is new. I just keep on keepin on. Talk to everyone soon.

Snowman Pics!

Here they are as promised pictures of the snowman. Sadly he was all but destroyed this weekend. The bottom snowball is still intact but I am told friday someone knocked his head off and saturday his body was pushed down. :( The page will load a little slowly as I haven't had time to perfect my code and all the images are on one page. Hopefully today I'll make it so that there are multiple pages and only a few appear on one page so that it will load faster. Enjoy.

Huge snowman

The guys from the honors floor and I built a gigantic snowman outside of our dorm. It is probably 12-13 feet tall. The bottom ball took 8-12 people to roll. Pictures to follow. Hopefull he stays around for awhile but we keep having to run off attackers. People must be jealous or something. Anyhow, as soon as I get my server reset I'll upload the pictures for all to see.
