Blogger is back up!
Hey everyone! Sorry for the period of silence. Blogger hasn't worked at SRU for a while for some reason. Who knows? Anyhow, things are going okay for me. All of my responsibilities have started fitting into my schedule without much conflict. I've still been busy, but it's way more managable now.
I had dinner with the president of the university last night along with the rest of the rocket staff. The president complimented me on my column and talked with me at length about the technology at SRU. Maybe something good will come my way as a result of that connection someday.
My super-project-intensive period is over. I had three projects going for three classes there for a while. Two of them are completely over (writing a program in a language called Perl and writing a program to server web pages) and the other is in between phases (it's a semester long project and probably the bane of my semester).
I haven't been able to post any pictures recently because there's something wrong with my server at home. I won't be able to fix it until I'm home again. That's okay though because it was about time to make some upgrades there anyway. Speaking of PC troubles, I'm happy to say that I'm not having any at all. The PC is humming along just like it should :)
I've got to get cracking on my article for this week. I've actually gotten some fan mail about my column. I'm happy with where it's going. I'll update again soon.

Things going my way despite being super busy
I've been extremely busy lately. That should soon taper off. A bunch of time has been taken up by doing RNA in room connections and doing PTA sessions with professors. The load should lighten there soon. I'm getting a little jammed up trying to balance my 4 jobs, but it seems to be running smoother now than before.
If anyone has noticed I've been writing in the Rocket every week. That's because they've asked me to. I write in character there, don't be alarmed. I don't believe the stuff I say there or really have such a crappy disposition. There's an SNL skit that my columns are a parody of, a computer nerd that always holds his skills above people's heads. My bosses think it's really funny to read. I haven't been posting about it because I'm just kinda doing it because they need me to. I'm still trying to decide if the type of writing I'm doing is beneath me or not. Oh well, I get a kick out of it anyway.
Classes are good, the apartment is great. I'm looking forward to just relaxing this weekend. I'm going to dinner with Dad tonight because he's on this side of the state. That should be fun. It isn't quite as much of a treat as it used to be when I had to eat every meal at the dining hall, but it's still nice.
P.S. I've discovered that I love cooking. SOOOO much better than the dining hall. More to come. Love ya all.

The calm after the storm
Sorry for the infrequency, folks. My new motherboard still isn't here. Well, ok that's a lie. It's here but it is in the shipping building and I just couldn't make it there today to pick it up. The need to have food to eat for dinner trumped the need to be able to check email. I'll pick it up tomorrow. Then HOPEFULLY I'll have a functioning computer and will resume normal posting.
School life is starting to calm down. The apartment is still going great. The jobs are good. The rocket is going particularly well. I wrote a column for Friday's edition. I thought it was kind of crappy as all of my columns are because I write them mostly for humor and only a little to get some technology information across. I sometimes wonder if writing the column the way I do is beneath me (if you've read one you'll understand) but I write them any way because the tech savvy guys and the help desk and networking department clearly get a kick out of it. So does the president of the university apparently, because I got an email from him praising last weeks column this morning. The column can be read here.
I haven't done anything with my new PTA position yet. I'm not sure when that starts but I'll be sure to fill you in. The RNA position is going along swimmingly. I like that I get to do more training/managerial and less routine stuff. It's more fun that way.
I haven't had a whole lot of free time but part of that is that it is the beginning of the year and I just went home for a weekend. I hope there'll be more later. Thanks to everyone who has sent me back to school cards or gifts or good wishes. I really appreciate it.
