My weekend

I had a rather interesting weekend. Friday night I went to a cookout with some friends who live off campus. We played horseshoes and watched people try to ride the unicycle they have at their house. It was pretty funny. Then later Brandon and I came back and watched "Rosemary's Baby". If you haven't seen it, it's a horror movie from the 60's. I didn't think it would be that good but MAN WAS IT FREAKY! It was pretty weird, but effective.

Saturday morning I got up at 6 A.M. (Trust me I was not a happy camper) to go do a community service project with members of Blue Key and Lambda Sigma (an organization that Blue Key recruits many members from. We went to Canton Ohio,

where there is a huge habitat for humanity center. We stayed there from 8 until 3. While there we (there were about 30-40 people) spent most of our time shoveling gravel and raking it into a hole where the foundation of a house was going to be. It was good hard labor. It was raining too so that made conditions pretty bad. Later on we went in for lunch and then helped to build sheds at the warehouse that would go in the yards of some new houses. Some people painted, loaded trucks, and helped build a little office in the warehouse too. All in all a good days work.

Then when I got back from habitat Saturday Brandon and I went to see "Mariachi Madness" in the student union. It was pretty neat. There was a mariachi band playing and some mexican culture items on display (including some pictures and things I had actually seen in Oaxaca). There was also some free food donated by a local mexican restaurant. It was a lot of fun.

Today I'm just hanging out. I might watch a movie later. I'm doing laundry now. I plan to clean my room a little later. Typical Sunday stuff. Talk to everyone soon.

Comments:
Brandon,

You are your co-workers are to be commended for working thru the bad weather, on a day off, to help those less fortunate. I am sure all of your hard work was very much appreciated. It must give you a great sense of satisfaction!

I hope your community awareness continues after college.

Love, Aunt Les
